Aloha CBTS Ohana,
First the great news The Hale Aloha building is now complete with the exception of the final steps in the power upgrade. Vacation Bible School will be held in the building next week and we will slowly start transitioning activities back into the building.
Things are progressing slowly with work on the Sanctuary and Ohana Lani due to the permitting process. We got permission this week to get the Sanctuary work inspected so we can start closing up the walls. The contractor will be on campus next week and with the campus closed to wedding activity, we hope to make a very big dent in the remaining work for the Sanctuary.
The situation in Ohana Lani is more complicated due to several upgrades required to get up to modern code. We got permission this week to finish up the plumbing work and we will be pouring the concrete to close up the floor early next week. We are working to finalize a cost for all of the repairs and hope to have that by next week (we have to have approved plans by the City & County to come up with a firm, final price). Once we have that determined, we will come back to you with the impact to the approved budget.
The preschool situation also remain in flux. Our intent is to use the previous toddler room for the toddlers and use the multi-purpose room in Hale Aloha as a primary classroom; it can hold approximately 22 students. We are working with Holy Nativity Church to continue using their space for our second primary classroom. We are confident that this will come together so that the school will open on time and be able to support the full contingent of students.
Watch for an announcement of a Congregation meeting in the near future to go over the details of the work and the budget impact.
